Hong Kong Camellia / Camellia Hongkongensis
The Camellia genus of the Theaceae family was first discovered in the Taiping Mountains in 1849. It is a slow-growing evergreen small tree or shrub. The flowering period is generally from December to February of the following year. It is the only native Camellia plant with red flowers. It is an endangered plant in Hong Kong and is currently protected by Hong Kong's Forestry Regulations.
